A Yeast Infection’s “Best Food Friends and Allies”

December 10, 2016 | By More

There are 10 times as many bacteria (about 60 trillion) in our intestines as cells in our entire body. When you eat sugars and grains, which break down to sugar, the sugar serves as fuel for bad bacteria and yeast to thrive on. Eventually, the infection in the intestine through such a dietary regimen can extend into the vaginal area. So, it would be wise to be aware of the specific foods that serve as friends and allies of your latest (or next) yeast infection:

Foods that allow “yeast to feast” – If yeast were to have a party, the food table would be filled with sugary, yeast-filled, refined foods (such as white flour); sweets would be abundantly available, including hidden sweeteners in processed foods, fruit and fruit juice, grains such as prepared flake cereals sprouted grain cereals such as: amaranth, buckwheat, corn, millet, rice, rye, spelt, wheat, granola, pearl barley, instant oats, cornmeal, hominy grits, microwave popcorn

Pasta and All types of noodles are made from the same base and would be a headliner at the “yeast buffet” along with cakes, pastries, cookies doughnuts or other processed baked food containing sugar. (It should be noted that yeast reacts to sugar the way an addict responds to heroin! It just can’t get enough) This list would include white bread, or any bread containing wheat, which includes pita bread, white flour tortillas, wheat dough tortillas, sourdough, or any other ethnic bread made from wheat.

Legumes would not be forgotten at the yeast buffet. You’d most certainly find beans and peas with sweeteners, bean sprouts, tempeh which is a type of fermented tofu, tofu and textured vegetable protein.

Nuts & Seeds are welcome at the yeast buffet as well: Coconut, Peanuts, Pistachios, Walnuts

Dairy Products would be very popular amongst the candida crowd: Buttermilk, soymilk (sweetened), all kinds of cheeses, cottage cheese, kefir, milk, sour cream, crème fraîche, sweetened yogurt.

Fruit, especially dried fruit would find a prominent place at a yeast-promoting buffet.

Beverages, among them alcohol, cereal beverages, coffee both regular and decaffeinated, processed tea drinks such as lemon tea, all fruit teas, black tea, fruit juices, and especially soft drinks including the diet soft drinks would be bountifully available!

Condiments and sauces would be in attendance, such as ketchup or catsup or any type of tomato sauce, cream sauces such as Alfredo steak sauce, capers, pickles or chutneys, which include anything made with sugar and distilled vinegar.

Proteins: Meat products such as beef chicken or pork that have added antibiotics and hormones would be found at the yeast festival along with smoked meats such as bacon, sausages and salami products. Pepperoni has added sugar and would be an important component of a yeast promoting bill of fare.

Vegetables: Carrots, mushrooms (all types), potato skins, prepared soups, canned tomatoes

Needless to say, should you wish to avoid a yeast banquet buffet, stringently avoid all foods listed above, especially during a yeast infestation! And remember that overcoming food addictions that promote yeast infection can be even more powerful than defeating drug addictions, so if at first you don’t succeed, try, try and try again. Like all addictions, it is difficult to shake off in the beginning but the cravings eventually disappear.
